My candidate blog will have a series of
blog post about my chosen candidate running for election in the US House of
Representatives. The candidate I have chosen is Joseph (Joe) P. Kennedy III who
will be running for US House in the Massachusetts 4th Congressional
District. This blog will have a series of blog post outlining Joe Kennedy’s
stance on the issues of Women Rights, Education, Foreign Policy and Security,
Job and Economy, Same-Sex Marriage, Local Concerns, Immigration, and Voting. In
addition, to my summary and analysis of Joe Kennedy, I will also be discussing
how he differs from his GOP opponent, Sean Bielat.
Biography: Joseph P. Kennedy III
Personal
Life
Joseph (Joe) P. Kennedy III, the
grandson of Robert F. Kennedy and the son of former Representative, was born in
Boston, Massachusetts on October 4th, 1980. A member of the
well-known political dynasty, Joe’s passion for public service would lead him
to pursue a career in congress.
Early life- Education
Joe attended Stanford University where
he studied management science and engineering. A graduated from Stanford
University, Joe went on to study law at Harvard Law School. During his years at
Harvard, Joe worked at a legal aid bureau where he provided free legal services
to low-income people. After graduating from Harvard Law School, Joe spent two
years working with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic. Joe became the
first member of his family to serve as a volunteer in the organization started
by President John F. Kennedy.[1] A
natural talent in public services, Joe embarked a career as a prosecutor at the
Cape Island’s District Attorney Office for the first two years and then in 2011
was the Assistant District Attorney for the Middlesex District Office. [2]
2012 Congressional election
At 32, Joe’s personal experience and
passion for public service has inspired him to run for office. Joe aspires to become
a good leader for Southern Massachusetts. Whether it being jobs, education or
access to education, retirement security and infrastructural projects, when
elected, Joe will advocate in prioritizing the 4th congressional
district.
Joe believes that the United States of
America was founded on a simple principle that each individual deserves to be
treated fairly, by the government and by each other; and that each individual
deserves an opportunity to make the most of our talents and hard work.[3] It
is this principle that Joe believes if elected will enable him to work with
Americans with diverse backgrounds and political views in achieving a common
purpose. As a candidate, Joe strives to work hard by talking to the voters and
informing them the type of leader he will be when representing the 4th
congressional district, the values that he holds, and the bright future for
Massachusetts and the rest of the nation.
Earlier this year, US Representative for
Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District, Barney Frank, announced
early retirement. The seat for congress in the 4th district became
vacant. Joseph P. Kennedy III announced that he will be running for
Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District. Resigning from his
position at the Middlesex District Office earlier this year, Joe will run
against GOP (Grand Old Party) candidate Sean Bielat. Sean Bielat is a
businessman, and a family man. He served in the US Marine Corps Reserve and he
is highly qualified to be the next representative in the 4th
Congressional District. Sean’s close 10point loss to retired congressman Barney
Frank back in 2010 makes him more eager to win the 2012 elections.[4]
Bielat’s past experiences and Kennedy’s passion will soon determine the next US
Representative for Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District.
